Frequently asked questions
About our checks, reports, payments and accounts.
What is a reg check?
A reg check looks up the official records linked to a vehicle's registration: its make, model, tax and MOT status, MOT history and mileage readings. A full vehicle check adds finance, write-off and stolen records.
What's included in the free check?
Vehicle details, tax and MOT status, full MOT history with advisories, mileage readings with any issues flagged, the export marker and a ULEZ estimate. Past adverts and safety ratings are shown where available.
What's the difference between Standard and Full?
Standard (£4.99) includes the written off check, damage history, salvage history, advanced mileage, previous keepers, plate and colour changes, V5C dates, recalls and a VIN check. Full (£8.99) is the most comprehensive check: it adds outstanding finance, log book loan and high risk checks, a valuation and the £10,000 data guarantee.
Can I find out who owns a car?
No. Keeper names and addresses are protected by the DVLA and aren't part of any legitimate vehicle check.
How do I get my report?
Your report opens on screen straight after payment, and we email you a link to it. Anyone you share the link with can view the report.
Do I need an account?
No. You can buy a report with just your email address. Log in with the same email at any time to see all your reports and coupons.
How do I log in?
Enter your email and we'll send you a 6-digit code. There's no password to remember.
How do Full check bundles work?
Buy 3, 5, 10 or 20 Full checks at a lower price per check. We email you a coupon code for each one. Use a code in the "Have a coupon code?" box at a Full check checkout, or from My Account. Coupons only work for Full checks and never expire.
Can someone else use my coupon?
Yes. Anyone with the code can use it, so keep your codes private. Each code works once.
Is my payment secure?
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Can I get a refund?
If we can't produce your report, you'll get a full refund. See our refund policy for details.
Why is there a limit on free checks?
Up to 30 free checks every two hours per visitor. The limit stops automated scraping and keeps the service fast for everyone.
