Terms and conditions
Last updated: 26 September 2026
Please read these terms before you run a check or buy a report. By using the site you accept them. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.
1. Who we are
regcheck.co.uk (“Reg Check”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is run by [Company name, company number, registered address]. We provide vehicle history checks for cars and other vehicles registered in the UK. “You” means the person using the site or buying a report.
You can contact us at [email protected].
2. When these terms apply
These terms apply every time you use the site, whether you run a free check, buy a report, buy a bundle of checks or use a coupon. We may update them from time to time. The version on this page when you run a check or place an order is the one that applies to it, so it is worth reading them again each time.
3. Our service
Our checks bring together information about a vehicle from third parties, including the DVLA, the DVSA and Experian, which supplies finance, insurance and police records. We don't create this data ourselves and we can't change it.
- Free check: basic vehicle details, MOT history, tax status and other information from public sources.
- Standard and Full check: paid reports with the checks listed on our prices page at the time you buy.
- Service history check: service records held by the manufacturer's dealer network and the factory specification of the vehicle, where these are available.
- Ultimate report: a Full check and a Service history check together.
Nothing on the site is an offer to supply our services to everyone. We may refuse or cancel an order, for example if we suspect fraud or misuse, and we will refund you in full if we do.
4. Buying a report
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout. Payments are handled securely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.
A report is digital content. It is created and supplied as soon as your payment goes through. At checkout you ask us to supply it straight away, and you accept that once it has been supplied you lose the 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. This does not affect your other rights, including those under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Your report is emailed to the address you give us and saved to My Account. Anyone with the report link can view it, so only share it with people you trust.
5. Bundles and coupons
- Bundles give you a set number of coupon codes. Each code can be used once, for one Full check on one vehicle.
- Coupons can't be used for any other product, can't be exchanged for cash and can't be refunded once used.
- You can share codes with other people. Whoever redeems a code first uses it up.
- Unused codes from a bundle can be refunded within 14 days of purchase if none of the codes in that bundle have been used. After that, unused codes stay valid on your account.
6. Service history checks
Service history comes from manufacturers and their franchised dealers. Not every brand keeps digital records, and work done at independent garages is usually not recorded. Some vehicles may have no digital service records available.
If we can't find both the service history and the factory specification sheet for a vehicle, we will refund the Service history check in full. You don't need to ask; we will process the refund within 2 working days. If we find either one, the check has been supplied and is not refunded. A missing service record doesn't mean the car wasn't serviced; ask the seller for the paper service book and invoices as well.
7. How accurate our information is
We take reasonable care to make sure the information in our checks is accurate and complete. But it comes from third parties, and we can't guarantee it is free of errors, gaps or delays.
There is always some delay between something happening to a vehicle, the organisation involved recording it, and that record reaching us. A report shows the information available to us at the moment you ran the check. It is a snapshot, and it won't update itself if the records change later.
The site and reports are provided “as is”. We don't promise that the site will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, bugs or viruses, and we are not responsible for failures of internet connections or other systems outside our control.
8. Relying on a report
A vehicle check is one part of buying a car safely, not the whole of it. Our reports are general information, not financial, legal or professional advice. Before you buy a vehicle we recommend that you:
- see the vehicle in person, check the V5C logbook and make sure the VIN on the car matches it;
- have the condition, safety and roadworthiness checked independently, for example by a mechanic or an inspection service;
- don't base your decision on our report alone.
You are responsible for decisions you make, and actions you take, based on information from the site.
9. Our liability to you
If you are a consumer, the site and our reports are for your personal use only. You must not use them for any business, commercial or resale purpose. We are not liable to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
If you are a business, including a motor trader, we are not liable to you, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, for any direct or indirect:
- loss of profit, revenue, sales or business opportunity;
- loss of goodwill or damage to reputation;
- inability to use the site or a report;
- reduction in the value of any asset;
- loss or corruption of data; or
- any other indirect or consequential loss.
Subject to the paragraph below and to the data guarantee, our total liability to you for any one report is limited to the price you paid for it.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
10. Data guarantee
Every Full check and Ultimate report includes a data guarantee of up to £10,000. The guarantee is provided and backed by Experian, and is subject to Experian's terms and conditions. Free checks, Standard checks and Service history checks are not covered.
To make a claim, email us with your report reference and the details as soon as you can. We will pass your claim to the guarantee provider and help you with it.
11. Using the site fairly
When you use the site you agree that you will not:
- use robots, spiders, scrapers or any other automated tool to access the site or collect data from it, unless we have agreed this with you in writing;
- copy, reproduce, republish, sell, redistribute or build a database or other service from our reports or site content, except for sharing your own report as the site allows;
- try to change how a check or payment works, interfere with the inputs, results or processes of the site, or get around our limits;
- use the site for anything unlawful, including trying to identify or contact a vehicle's keeper.
Free checks are limited to 30 every 2 hours per connection. We may block access or cancel reports if these rules are broken. For regular or bulk checks, see our trade accounts.
12. Intellectual property
The site, its design, text, graphics and software, and the layout of our reports, belong to us or to the people who license them to us. Other trade marks, brand names and product names shown on the site belong to their owners, and we have no right to let you use them.
13. Where our service covers
Our checks cover vehicles registered in England, Scotland and Wales. Information for vehicles registered in Northern Ireland may be limited, and we don't cover vehicles registered outside the UK. The service is intended for people living in the UK.
14. Your personal data
We use your personal data as described in our privacy policy. Our reports are about vehicles; they do not include the name or address of the vehicle's keeper.
15. General
Each paragraph of these terms applies separately. If a court or other authority decides that any of them is unlawful, the rest will stay in full force.
If we don't enforce one of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
